SELF-ASSESSMENT
As the shrimp sector progressively transitions toward sustainable development, growing attention is being paid to environmental protection, social responsibility, and transparent governance. For small-scale shrimp farming households, meeting these expectations does not necessarily require complex systems; what matters most is doing the right things within their actual capacities and conditions.

The self-assessment questionnaire has been developed to help farmers
-
Review their current farming practices
-
Identify areas where they are performing well
-
Determine aspects that can be improved step by step
This tool is not intended for inspection, sanctioning, or adding administrative procedures. Rather, it enables farmers to proactively improve production quality, reduce risks, and strengthen their ability to participate in sustainable value chain linkages.
The questionnaire is structured around the three core pillars of ESG
Environmental (E): Water management, waste management, chemical use, and environmental record-keeping
Social (S): Occupational safety, regulatory compliance, and relationships with surrounding communities
Governance (G): Record-keeping, information transparency, and fulfilment of commitments
Farmers are simply asked to assess their current practices by selecting the level that best reflects their reality: Achieved - Needs Improvement - Not Yet Achieved.
Periodic self-assessment will enable farming households to gradually improve their management practices, enhance their credibility, meet the requirements of purchasing enterprises and markets, and secure stable, long-term livelihoods.
Farmers are encouraged to conduct self-assessments proactively before each production cycle or after each harvest in order to track progress and develop appropriate improvement plans.
Proactive action today is the foundation for sustainable development tomorrow.
